📣 Are you doing Latino Public History in your classrooms? I want to talk! 🙋‍♀️ I'm building a new class & want to talk to folks who have tried this in their classroom (succesful or not!) & how to build out shareable tools for us to all be able to do these projects in our classes. Please share widely! 💫

So I’ve had my 1st Black History Month event cancellation because of “DEI concerns,” citing a fear of frivolous suits. Funny thing is, I don’t do DEI, I’m a historian of the Black American experience. A reminder that DEI is just a dog whistle about suppressing history, if you need a reminder.

Relieved to be wrapping up this semester which was...a lot. A bright spot for me has been working with my "History of Latinxs in the US" class on a project abt the history of Latinx people in Durham, NC. They created a Zine with their research available here: drive.google.com/file/d/1kdZZ...

Calling it just a bookstore is an injustice though. It’s also a curated collection of Native history, culture, and support for banned books.

Doing historical research isn’t just an intellectual enterprise; it’s emotional and embodied.

I legit almost threw up earlier this morning while researching etymology related to the year 1712.

If you’re a historian and/or do archival research, how do you handle the SHOCK of revelation?
