New bill in the utah legislature - SB 174 "Exercise of Religious Beliefs and Conscience Amendments" gives healthcare providers AND insurance the ability to refuse to perform or pay for any service for religious reasons - very clearly aimed at trans people and queer people overall

I think I've nailed down the reason it's been so hard for me to write lately and it's that I think my writing is best when infused with a sense of hope and joy for long-term and short-term futures and i think I've just not been able to inject it into my work lately when it barely exists naturally rn

forged in fire as a background activity is great for writing because best case you can see examples of forging techniques or think of ways to describe things and worst case you see the Worst Guy You've Ever Seen or you get bored and can play a game of "spot the egg" every episode or two without fail
I have Forged in Fire playing in the background and there is a dude in a tank top with a tuxedo pattern on it that he says he got married in and he considers his formal wear

The only other one of note i've read so far is the other one i mentioned, which cracks down on anyone geandfathered in by the youth care ban a year or two ago; but we are in early stages of the session so i'll keep an eye out and post if i see more pop up as the weeks go on

FYI for my utah moots - this legislative sessioms is shaping up SUPER rough, i.e. banning vital records changes in a bill attempting to remove all mentions of gender identity and statements like the phrases below - keep an eye on it and support each other no matter what, it's gonna be a hard year
