This is one of the most insightful comments I've seen. Frankly, Dems are showing us what Vichy politics was all about, giving in to fascism w/o a fight. Like Dems picking on gaetz when every appt portends the intent to destroy our govt & give free reign to corruption beyond the pale.
Why are Dem leaders blowing off Trump's scandalous cabinet nominees as a distraction? Because rank and file Dems are divided between those who want to do real opposition politics, and those who want to do Vichy "opposition" politics.
There's Nothing Exciting Or Constructive About This
The middle path between real opposition and appeasement leads nowhere.

If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing
this is exactly why i still buy discs in 2023. it's crazy to think that we are reaching a point where piracy will be the only option to own media once dvds and blu-rays are gone.

The lack of concern/active hostility towards doing anything directly about the hostages is the most baffling aspect of this to me.

I’m not trying to be a pessimist or argue in favor of any action, just trying to look at this from the perspective of what America can actually achieve, because I think sometimes even critics of the US overestimate it’s power. Obviously we should be trying anything we can think of to rein this in.

Yeah that’s a legitimate avenue. I need to research what the maintenance cycles are like on those for the IAF, how many parts they have stockpiled. Would also depend on how willing they are to push maintenance. Even if we cancelled future delivery contingent on immediate action, would it stop them?
