People say my optimism is that of Pollyanna, that it is an excuse for laziness. It is not. My optimism sustains me. The knowledge that there is light at the end of the tunnel is a reason to redouble the work. Doomerism, giving up, accepting that all the work is for nothing — that is abhorrent.

The history of civilian mass detention on the basis of identity without due process or recourse (which is how I defined concentration camps in my history of them) shows that it invariably leads to permanent harm—and typically significant loss of life as well. The longer it goes on the worse it gets.
As detention expands, conditions get worse, thanks to overcrowding and the chaotic transfers of people all over the country.

Car companies should never rent to ICE, if for no other reason than because ICE are constantly ramming cars, buildings, infrastructure, and human beings with rented vehicles. What insurer would approve that kind of risk?
so much to cover right now, but a thread i just want to throw out there from my reporting is that the car rental market in minneapolis is reportedly totally screwed up right now because ICE has cleared the inventory. rental companies should have to answer for supplying vehicles used in terror.
