Germline prediction of immune checkpoint inhibitor discontinuation for immune-related adverse events
Introduction Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) can yield remarkable clinical responses in subsets of patients with solid tumors, but they also commonly cause immune-related adverse events (irAEs). T...

Work by PhD student @jayatirsharma.bsky.social on how grouping Hispanic/Latino participants into a single group can obfuscate substantial substructure, leading to false conclusions.

We show how heterogeneity by background group wrt genetic ancestry and environment can affect genetic risk models.

We found some interesting links between genetic regulation of blood cell traits and #glioma risk + survival, pointing to #immune related mechanisms 🧠🧬
Genetic predisposition to altered blood cell homeostasis is associated with glioma risk and survival - Nature Communications
Glioma is an aggressive brain tumor subtype with few known risk factors. Here, the authors utilise Mendelian Randomisation to investigate correlation of immune cell counts with subtype-specific risk a...

In a new preprint led by @TheNikhilMilind, we explored a fascinating paradox:
For many traits the number of duplications or loss-of-function (LoF) mutations is correlated with phenotype. Curiously, for most traits, the AVERAGE direction of LoFs and Dups is the SAME. Why?

I'm writing a molecular perspective on heritability, behavior, (and eventually) race/ancestry, group differences. The idea is to start with what we've learned from genetic data and then work backwards to what we used to know from classical studies. gusevlab.org/projects/hsq/
