Bothers me when people discuss Left movements in the U.S. w/out underscoring the GENERATIONS of repression, surveillance, violence directed at movements. The "Left" is so disorganized is used as a joke but I hardly ever see those same people saying 'THE LEFT WAS TARGETED & DISORGANIZED by the STATE'

Yeah, I can get that to a degree. The same smarm brigade that actively and confidently said we wouldn’t get to this point should definitely practice shutting the fuck up more often unless it is help others rather instead of constant tedious lecturing. Lessons to be learned for everyone!
I think it's that people are sick of the smarm brigade who roll their eyes any time someone hypothesizes that participation in an institution of liberal society might lead to illiberal consequences that scarcely fall on the heads of the smarm brigade's class/gender/race.
