There *is* wealth in BC and Canada. Arguments that claim otherwise distract from the fact that we have a MASSIVE concentration of wealth in this country (1/4) 🧵

The Epstein files aren’t just about one wealthy predator.

They reveal how extreme wealth creates a system where the ultra-rich protect each other, avoid consequences, and exploit power, while everyone else pays the price. patrioticmillionaires.org/perspectives...

Canada, stop with the self-interested decision making and do what is right. As @whosestreets.bsky.social says, it is time for Canada to align with other middle powers to push back on the US siege of Cuba. We have to stop living-the-lie.
Canada is uniquely positioned to break the siege of Cuba—we should be leading a regional coalition to ship oil and aid to Cuba, and prevent the humanitarian crisis that U.S. regime is attempting to deliberately trigger.

I wrote about it, and the history of the blockade, for @policyalternatives.ca
Send Canadian oil to Cuba - CCPA
The United States is attempting to deliberately trigger a humanitarian crisis in Cuba. Canada must act in concert with regional allies to defy the blockade.

Our current tax code guarantees that the chasm between the uber rich and every one else will just keep growing (and keep growing faster).

When wealth and power get to top heavy, societies tend to collapse.

Effective taxes on extreme wealth are how we defend our economy and democracy.
The average family family in the top 0.01% had 4,041x the wealth of the average family in the bottom 50%.

86 billionaire families held as much wealth as the 6.2 million least wealthy families.

We need policy action—including a wealth tax—to rein in the economic & political power of the super-rich.

I told him: “We already have class warfare in this country — billionaires are waging war on the rest of us.”

Housing and homelessness online forum – February 23
Affordable housing is a major problem, with many Canadians struggling with high costs and the inadequate supply of suitable homes. These struggles can impact health, happiness, and financial stability, and may lead to homelessness and a cycle of housing insecurity. Can this situation in Canada be changed? Can we learn from other regions? The answer to both questions is a resounding YES!

Poverty doesn’t just take.
It compounds.
No doctor today.
A hospital bill tomorrow.
Teeth rot. Backs break. Cancer spreads.
The cost is always delayed, never forgiven.
Poverty charges interest.

You can flood streets with cops and still have suffering everywhere.
Or you can fund housing, mental health care, and addiction treatment,
and actually make people safe.
One is control.
The other is solutions!

Thanks @guyfelicella.bsky.social for stating the uncomfortable truth that many do not like to hear. Canada is incredibly rich. NOBODY should be homeless or hungry. Taxing extreme wealth is certainly part of the solution.

Don’t you dare tell me we don’t have enough money to feed and house everyone.
We do.
What we don’t have is a system willing to inconvenience the powerful.
Poverty is policy. Homelessness is a choice society makes every day.

Oligarchy (noun):

A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.
Really need everyone to take a good look at how well the richest people in America have done in the last year.

The rest of us got higher healthcare and electric bills, food assistance cuts, price hikes, and ICE terrorizing our communities.

What are we doing here?
