Moderate voices in the US, particularly in the UK, need to recognise you can decry political violence, “offer sympathies” whilst also recognise that Kirk was a despicable person who touted extremist views and profited off the fear of minorities.

Indeed. Trump is 'dovish' or 'pacifist' if you ignore trivialities like 'number of bombs dropped in Afghanistan 2016-2020' compared to '2006-2016' (when DoD started to measure) and instead focus on 'the world as Ian Leslie would like it to be'.
Though he did bomb Syria and is currently threatening Canada, Greenland, and Panama plus he's just sent a load of weapons to Israel, so I'm not sure pacifist is the right word.

Felt sorry for a tourist in Oxford who didn't seem to know you're supposed to put the cream and jam *on* the scones.
