YES.
Oh the crocodile tears of thieves who might face legal consequences.

“But our company might go down!”

Well you shouldn’t have felt entitled to profit off works you do not own, and built your entire business off this racket 🤷🏻‍♀️

Update thread #2. Hemlock
One thing we worked on is a different tool to complement Nightshade. We discovered a new attack on diffusion models that is more generalizable than Nightshade. It targets an entirely different part of AI training pipeline, basically making AI models poison themselves.

Hey all.
Sorry for a relatively long quiet period. A lot has been going on in 2025 and keeping us busy. Aside from the day job of research, there has been a lot of work with a few legal cases, and in recent months, much work writing and advocating for AI transparency laws. Time for an update.

You're free to use them for anything, even commercially. I tried to focus on details not usually represented in available reference material

Folks! EGAIR —An EU based coalition of artists looking to protect the rights and livelihoods of artists in the EU— are having a call to action concerning Meta’s egregious training practices! If you’re in the EU, read this thread and act!

Your letters have power, so go forth!
🇪🇺🚨Facebook/Instagram is restarting training AI on your data🚨🇪🇺

They offer Opt-out, but OPT-OUT doesn't work conceptually!
People re-upload other people's work and photos on social media ALL THE TIME.

Let's do something about it.

Meta is training AI on your data. Users say opting out doesn’t work.
Meta promised users that they can opt out of giving access to their social media content for AI training. Some are saying that the exit tool doesn't work.

Damn EU has failed us...
What a misguided and terrible ruling from the EU. They just handed people’s rights, privacy and copyrighted works away for free to a US behemoth. This also affects any company whose work is copyright dependent.

I thought the EU was better than this. Shame on them.

US citizens I wish you well.
There’s just so much shady shit in this story, but this really sticks out. Folks in NLRB’s IT unit were so freaked out by what they saw DOGE doing that they wanted to notify the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Then this happened:

Make no mistake,GenAi companies will try and dismantle all protections that creatives have over their work in the US too. They KNOW they cant win lawsuits because they broke the law. But they can try and change the laws.

Folks, prepare yourselves to fight this tooth and nail.
