this also pops up a lot in chronic pain patient spaces and it grinds my gears every time like those aren’t “the few bad apples ruining pain management for the rest of us” those are people with very real and debilitating medical conditions too!!!
it’s genuinely hurtful the way some of y’all talk about people with alcohol and substance use disorders. these ghouls in DC will not hear your stigmatizing words, nor do they care. but chances are your neighbors and coworkers and friends in your local AA & NA groups have heard those words

as a disabled person, just cannot say I give a flying fuck about this.
personally would prefer not to means test disability accommodations. shit is hard enough for people to navigate as it is, esp for those of us with invisible disabilities.

Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.
