SEOUL, Jan 13 (Reuters) - South Korea's special prosecutor on Tuesday requested the death penalty for former president Yoon Suk Yeol on charges of insurrection over his brief imposition of martial law in December 2024.

Poor Adrian. 😂

I warned you, man! The Lisa has been the one computer I've worked on by a wide margin that would throw me the STUPIDEST of roadblocks in an attempt to _just not stay running._

Just a PSA for whoever might need it: Recognize there is only so much you can take in. Awareness of what's happening around you is important, but learn to turn it off when it becomes too much to process. Disconnect, and take a step back. Let the waves rest. Your own preservation is important too.

Really good talk and insightful questions, with a guy who is always one of the most refreshingly frank and honest voices in the field. (He's actually willing to say 'I don't know' sometimes!) Worth a watch!
I Interviewed Intel's Tom Petersen and we talked all Things Arc/Battlemage, XeSS 3, Frame Generation, Smoothness, Game Stutters, and how Intel will be approaching Advanced Shader Delivery for its users. Really amazing answers from Tom here, do watch!

This is me just trying to figure out how to fix my Compaq Portable III
Usagi's video today really hit close to home with the IV/90 I'm still trying to understand.

I was going to be a bit more celebratory today with getting the last video of the year finished and stuff, then it got dropped on me pretty hard this morning that over the weekend we lost an icon in the world of tech reporting.

Stewart Cheifet and Gary Kildall were regular guests on my television growing up. The Computer Chronicles always made me feel like I was a part of this impossible dream of being a Silicon Valley insider. Thank you, Mr. Cheifet.

NOOOOOOOO GODDAMMIT!!
What an unbelievably terrible parting shot for a terrible year! Shit, man!

Such a seminal figure, not just in reporting on computer technology, but in data preservation, and so much more. Many times I'd dream of getting to talk to him, unlikely as it was, but now I never will.
Aw man 😞 Rest in peace Mr Cheifet, host of Computer Chronicles: obits.goldsteinsfuneral.com/stewart-chei...

What a legend. His work in both presenting and preserving the early days of computer history has been (and will continue to be) deeply appreciated! My condolences to his family and friends.

Absolutely love this series, and holy cow that Julie doll is more advanced than toys of today.
Another LGR Christmas thing! Watching/reacting/researching stuff in the Computer Chronicles Christmas Buyer's Guide from 1987

And that's it for both holiday videos and LGR overall in 2025. Have a happy new year and I look forward to getting back to more LGR things in January 🎉

OK, VLB cards, cool technology. 32-bits. Backwards compatible. Neatness.

Freakin PITA(!) to actually remove and especially insert. Not only do they need to be forced near the point of breaking to put in, but they have to be seated PERFECTLY to function. So too often I have to reseat it.

Not a fan.

I gave the Video Memory Tester made by @necroware.bsky.social a try today, and here are my results!
Super useful and awesome to be able to add it to the toolchest!
Give it a try!

(Side note: I confirmed it works on PCIe cards 😄)

Really sad to hear about Rob Reiner. Not just a legend in Hollywood, but an incredible activist and equal rights advocate. The world lost a truly great creator, and warrior.

This is a SUPER awesome project by @necroware.bsky.social for helping to diagnose which video memory chip(s) on your card are defective. Huge thanks to them for creating it!

I took Nathan's ( @pixelpipes.bsky.social ) suggestion (to @actionretro.bsky.social ) of using this cheap PCI GeForce GT210 on old Pentium 4 systems without AGP/PCIe slots. This tiny card was the perfect solution for a D2700 Atom system! It literally runs rings around the Atom's GMA 3650 on XP...

I poked around a bit with this today. I can't find any shorts, nothing blown, voltages all look good. POST card doesn't see anything.

Both this system and my previous non-working machine are basically in the same state now. I'm gonna need better tools (like a scope) to have any hope of fixing it.
Noooo! I literally just used it the night before last. :(
Can't be the clock battery, that only has like a year of use on it

Guess I know what I'm working on this weekend...
