Her video explaining everything is here: youtube.com/watch?v=djluF6…

Her legal fund is here: gofund.me/45f72d8b7 I donated $1000 to support her cause, but sadly the situation hasn’t received much attention. Even if you can’t contribute, watching and sharing her video would help a lot.

"Asking for permission first would bankrupt the streaming media industry" - Napster probably should have tried this one.
Nick Clegg says asking artists for use permission would ‘kill’ the AI industry
Paul McCartne, Elton John and others signed an open letter.

Why are long lists so terrible online? Take a music playlist, it loads 20-30 songs at a time, and then you need to scroll to the bottom, and wait for the next batch to load. Just implement virtual scroll ffs. Count the items in the playlist, let me scroll to the real end, and then batch load that.

This is just my little non-monetised personal blog. Imagine this across all the sites across the internet.
It's still pretty weird to see AI people claim that LLMs aren't destroying web traffic. Let's play a game: Guess when ChatGPT launched:

I've been following Derfies progress on this on discord for a while. He's cooking some cool stuff!

I want to get back on my telescope, and reviewing some of the pain points.

Setting up power for a test outside at night is pretty annoying.

I know absolute peak draw is under 40watts, and real world measured draw is 17 watts.

Enter this amazing thing.
I can run it for 3 hours off a power bank!

Got a notification today that Plex was breached and to reset passwords. Decided to double check privacy options there. Woah, they send your data to a LOT of vendors by default.

Make sure to check "All No" here.

New kubernetes lab! 5x Pi Zero 2w's. Been wanting to deep dive it for a while, and this is a nice isolated environment to mess around with k3s.

I've spent some time getting familiar with Podman recently to replace docker. I'm really impressed with it. The Quadlet integration with systemd is awesome once you wrap your head around it.

Why did they choose such dramatically different lighting/color correction for a DLSS example? DLSS 4 looks good, but their demo video is a bit deceptive.

After nearly burning out my Raspberry Pi5 and laptop the other day I've setup a sacrificial pi zero 2 W to wirelessly reprogram microcontrollers when working on new prototypes.

The opinions on AI feel so polarized, I feel out of place in both camps. I'm not in the camp of "AI is useless, has no killer app and is a waste of resources" nor am I in the camp of "THIS IS THE PATH TO AGI". Where's the more nuanced takes?

Advent Of Code Day 3 done. I opted for manual string parsing over regex as I just generally don't enjoy working with regex. Who just went with regex? #Python #AdventOfCode

Restoring an OPNSense backup is proving more annoying than I hoped. Apparently you can only restore during install if you have an unencrypted backup. Can't find instructions anywhere on using an encrypted backup.
