The great thing about solar energy is you don’t have to invade another country to access sun reserves.

Too many politicians believe talking about climate change is a political loser. But the numbers tell a different story. A recent @yaleclimatecomm.bsky.social poll shows that a majority of voters want *more* action on climate climatecommunication.yale.edu/app/uploads/... 1/4

So far the Trump administration has killed or delayed more than 12.5 GW of offshore wind projects that are *already under construction*

That’s enough electricity to power 5 million homes. All this while household utility bills are skyrocketing.

Hot take: it’s good to listen to folks who know WTF they are talking about, and ignore charlatan pundits who don’t.
This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

🚨 A court just said the EPA must stop blocking the investments from our Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.

We created this program to support innovation that spurs good-paying jobs & lowers costs for Americans. EPA's attempts to clawback these investments are illegal.
Full DC Circuit to Rehear Greenhouse Gas Reduction Grants Case
Environmental groups and state green banks convinced the full DC Circuit Wednesday to vacate and reconsider an earlier ruling that allowed the EPA to rescind billions of dollars in grants.

This piece from @npr.org about my friend (and former diplomat) Wren Elhai speaks to the costs of the current admin’s “burn the house down” approach to governance. Wren is a brilliant, humble, and committed public servant - and a killer fiddle player too 🎻 www.npr.org/2025/12/12/n...

This whole thread.
A theory about vibes:

Human beings are deeply social creatures. Our need for a legible social order is rooted almost as deeply in our brainstem as our need for basic physical security. We need -- not want, need -- to understand who's in charge, who are allies, who are enemies, *how things work*.

A good antidote to a bad NYT piece.
There was an NYT piece last week about the Sierra Club, and (by extension) the current state of the climate movement.

I think they got three big things wrong.

This new obsession w/ banishing “climate doom and gloom” from political messaging really feels like standard-issue left-bashing.

Smart climate comms ppl have known for yrs that leading with co-benefits is key. That’s why we’ve consistently talked about jobs, affordability, Econ dev, and health.

The Trump admin calls this kind of talk “climate change religion.” With all the foreign aid and climate funding cuts, we Americans at least owe Jamaicans all the prayers we can spare as #Melissa comes barreling down.
What we're witnessing with #Melissa is ultra rare in the history of known hurricanes in the Atlantic. This level of sustained intensity and feasting on every joule of ocean heat content without any real disruption is incredible.

Not hyperbole: Jamaica is facing a generational catastrophic event.

Today in things that make me crazy: Political consultants consistently call climate change a “cultural” issue when it’s projected to wipe out nearly a quarter of the global economy. Tell me again how climate isn’t a kitchen table issue? www.thecooldown.com/green-busine...

I’m voting YES on all of them because we need more affordable housing in NYC, not more red tape.

Catalytic clean energy projects like this in DeQueen, AR create value for local governments, school districts, & hard-working Americans. Federal funding freezes have slowed the capital flowing to energy infrastructure, but that won't stop us bringing benefits of clean power directly to communities.
