If anyone is on a kick after Nosferatu and wants another movie based on 19th century literature then I recommend The Vourdalak (2023). Kinda off-kilter/weird and thoroughly endearing. Also; puppet sex. I really enjoyed this one lmao

As a lover of Egger’s previous work I gotta say I was kinda underwhelmed by Nosferatu 🤷♀️ some beautifully crafted scenes but it was possibly too beholden to previous works to really stand out idk

There is a special place in my heart for depictions of self in prehistoric art. This is one my favourites - 5 figures carved into the long bone of a (now extinct) auroch, found in Denmark and dating to c. 8000 BC.

we had a great 8 years of it being acceptable to be publicly queer but the right tapped into their hysteria and are trying to push us back decades. this is why the left warned of relying on rainbow capitalism because their support was about profit above all else. the solution is for us to not hide

The best thing you can do for an author is to request their book from your library. The library will usually get it for you! The author will get an immediate sale, and libraries will know there is a demand for their future books! Just google your library name plus "book request" or walk in and ask
Library purchases are purchases. They pay the press. The press counts them towards advances and royalties. And (gasp) the book is in a library!! It’s wonderful and no one should ever feel bad about getting a book through a library instead of buying it.
I got it from my local library system, which has 28 physical copies (more than half are checked out) and 4 audiobooks. The branch library is two blocks from my house so I get most of my books from there. Hope this helps because I loved the book - I'm not a historian and knew nothing of that period.
