lol I'll try and keep count while I'm out there in January
There are 17 of you.
I ride my ebike all winter long in Massachusetts, because I cannot drive due to poor eyesight. I could take ubers all winter but that's wasteful and I can make the trip myself. I'm anything but unserious, and there are plenty of us.

Are there winter bikers in places like Minneapolis? Absolutely yes. And with respect, y'all are insane. Absolute nutters. Ridiculous obsessives. Unserious.

I just bought some music gear that I'm very excited about, and while I know I'll get a crapton of use out of it I still feel guilty. My brain won't shut up about wanting to create things, but then I try to feed it and it makes me feel bad. WTF

Just wanted to congratulate @andrewhickey.500songs.com for another incredible episode. I can imagine how hard this was to write, but it's another shining example of his research, perspective, and laid back but scholarly style. Check it out -

Say what you want about Phish, but they have survived so many trends that they have officially become the elder statesman of the thing that every modern band is trying to do.

Bullseye
Sublime the band is the audio experience of having to watch your weed connect play Halo for half an hour in an apartment that smells intensely bad before he'll get around to selling you a bag of stems and try to hit on you('re girlfriend)

As an artist who cares about human-made art I did a bit of curiosity research about how AI videos are made. The common theme is that the user had to re-prompt the AI engine many many times before getting a halfway decent result. Basically they are piling waste upon waste.

“But my prompts show my intent to make art!”

Then those written prompts are the intentional art you created, not the hallucinations of a color printer that comes from them.

Publish those written prompts meant to evoke an image as your art. It’s part of a broader artistic genre called: writing.

The point about AI training is that it is not a ghost in a machine learning by diligent study; it is massive corporate power expropriating work and asking to be excused from the law in exchange for goods it will not deliver and profit it will keep to itself.

Another key part of my platform in my Presidential campaign will be the creation of a uniform language for white people to order spicy food that's actually spicy and not white people spicy.

This kind of standardization is an important aspect of the administrative state.

one of the problems with the Myth of Kubrick is that for as incredible and exacting an artist as he was, narrative has become one in which everything on screen was him, everyone else mere instruments, erasing his collaborators' contributions

The Shining is as much Duvall's as it is Kubrick's
