So yes: let us be thankful today; let us remember.

But please do remember these patterns too!

Democracy requires work every day. And it can be lost much, much more quickly than most of us think.

And make no mistake: the trajectory we are currently on is very much heading that way.

This shows that "doxxing" has become a meaningless, catch-all phrase for anything these guys do not like reported. @klong.bsky.social is an impressive reporter, who simply connected the anonymous postings of a self-declared racist to the public identity of someone directly altering government.

This is hilarious for politics nerds. Chant of we want Tommy out at today's march rendered by auto caption as the name of the leader of the Italian Communist Party for 40 years.

Private schools aren’t failing because of Labour’s VAT hike.

Right-wing papers are screaming about three schools going under this week. But when you dig deeper, the truth looks very different.

Here’s what’s really going on:

Once again: the multiple incidents like this are not accidents or mistakes: the systematic war crimes are a feature, not a bug.

Great work; if you're even a bit curious about how Britain was defended in the SWW this is it, in detail. And Chris is your man.
But I have just started turning my attention to several War Diaries for units deployed to East Yorkshire on anti-invasion defence. In this case, the war diary of the 2/6th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, who were one of the first units deployed to defend Filey Bay in June 1940.

Make no mistake Braverman is delivering exactly what the Tory members demand. The good news is they are a pitifully small and unrepresentative group.
Which just goes to show how far right and racist the grassroots of the Tory Party has become after assimilating UKIP and Brexit into the collective at the last election

On this day in 1940, the Civic Centre’s art gallery was bombed during a daylight air raid on Southampton.

Thirty-five people were killed. A class of fifteen children had taken shelter in the basement; only one child survived the direct hit.

There is now a memorial inside the building.

I’ve been thinking about ceasefires. In my experience, 3 elements are normally needed. Readiness by both sides to stop fighting (on conditions). A broker to negotiate a deal. And int supervision to give confidence that both sides will respect the terms. Gaza conflict is not at this point yet 1/6

And best not to even think about the size or quality of UK houses...
