I’m a sign language interpreter. I’ve been pondering for months the best way to sign “populism”. Asked a deaf person and they came up with the perfect visual depiction in under two seconds. A real reminder that I am privileged to work with a language that does not belong to me

I would laugh so hard if Trump didn’t get this one either 😂
this is actually impressive, making up a brand new nobel peace prize replacement is a genuine innovation in bribery

absolutely nobody does corruption like FIFA

Got to love when the clocks go back an hour when I have an early flight. Arrived at the airport 05.15 and still managed a full 6 hours kip!

If Labour is continuing to lose votes, just got 11% in a by-election in a seat they've held for 100 years and in a few recent polls is equal to or just behind the Greens maybe we should stop suggesting they're the only thing that can defeat Reform.

Dear Laura Kuenssberg

Don't you think it time you gave PROPER coverage to the issue of Reform, Nigel Farage, Nathan Gill & Russian bribery?

You seem reluctant. Just as Fiona Bruce seemed desperate to shut it down when Zack Polanski brought it up on #BBCQT

WHY?

Dear Nobel Prize Committee, Please please please give the Peace Prize to Greta. 1. She deserves it. And 2. The rage from Washington would just be so fucking funny

He says it’s not about skin colour but a “preponderance” of one kind of people in a community. My area of Edinburgh has a “preponderance” of white people but I suspect Jenrick wouldn’t complain about that. Racist prick.
So to summarise, this is a white politician blaming a black journalist for the racism he is now actively helping to promote, after receiving the full endorsement of his own party leader
Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

I wonder what the female fish sound like 🐟
Scientists are eavesdropping on fish to research and record the strange and subtle sounds they make underwater.

So far, they have captured a cacophony of thumps, honks, burps and grunts.
What sound does a fish make? The answer is weirder than you may think.
Scientists using new ways to eavesdrop on fish have captured a cacophony of thumps, honks, burps and grunts in underwater recordings.

I am privileged teach a session to interpreters about deaf/interpreter power dynamics. It leads to reflective discussion.

Been talking to a deaf academic from Texas who has had her lessons on the same subject cancelled.

A deaf person is banned from talking about power.

God bless America 🇺🇸

I will never forget sharing a stage with Erin Doherty at the Edinburgh Festival in 2017 and being blown away by her performance. I said to the DSM “She’s getting an Oscar one day”. She’s just got her Emmy. I wish I’d put money on it now. Honestly one of the best actors I have ever seen work
