Hey, what's the life of a few thousand losers compared to sweet, sweet profits?

The US is literally run by the Antichrist and his demons. If you voted for him and haven't recanted yet, you're either a moron or earned yoursel a one-way ticket to eternal damnation.
For years, the opioid epidemic outpaced treatment access. Suboxone could've helped, easing withdrawal, quelling cravings, preventing relapse. Today, even with generics, only 1 in 4 adults get it.

Here is how a company's thirst for profits and political red tape kept it out of reach. nyti.ms/45MfcYH

Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not.

An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.

The anti-intellectual prejudices and destructive attacks on science by the Trump administration, especially on medical and climate research, will cause massive and needless suffering and loss of lives.

No Bond villain was ever as villainous.
Today's US EO orders the Attorney General to identify + take expeditious action to stop enforcement of "all State & local laws... purporting to address “climate change” or involving “environmental, social, and governance” initiatives, “environmental justice,” carbon or “greenhouse gas” emissions."
This executive order confirms that. They are attacking all "state laws" that address climate change, ESG, environmental justice and/or greenhouse gases.

No shit, Sherlock.

Destroying the universities is a key fascist objective. Both because they believe these must be neutralised to control the country, and because that's what their Lord and Master, Putin, wants them to do: America, stupid, poorer and alone.
People might think that whatever destruction is done to science in the US, we can undo in 4 years with a Democratic president and Congress.

The problem is that many areas require specialized knowledge and skills built up over years, and once that's lost, it's hard to get back.
The damage will be far worse than just a 4-yr gap. Both I and the individual who has managed this site for most of the past 50 yrs are retiring within the next 2 years. With this closure, we will not be able to plan a transition.

Last month I did a little experiment.

I wanted to see how the exact same post would perform on both X (Twitter) and Bluesky.

The results were...interesting...

This.

This happens all too damn often.

An agroforestry system is lovingly nurtured for decades, and some rank idiot who can't think decides getting rid of it would nicely plug a red cell in his (it's usually a "he") spreadsheet.

So sign that petition please. Please? Pretty please?
One of the best examples of a mature, temperate forest garden is under threat - please sign the Agroforestry Research Trust's petition to try and save it.
The Dartington Forest Garden is threatened with destruction by landlords the Dartington Trust. It took >30 years to grow, and is a wonderful example of a radically different approach to food & fibre production. Please sign the petition, and share.

NEW: District Judge John Coughenour indefinitely blocks Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship.

His judgement eviscerates Trump:

"The rule of law is, according to him, something to navigate around or simply ignore, whether for political or personal gain.“

Carve that into Trump’s headstone.
