Proud federal employee, nature lover, cat lady, family historian. Based in northwest NJ. Always on the lookout for good food and travel tips. Been known to roam cemeteries for fun.
I was really looking forward to an upcoming #genealogy conference. Two days, in person. Now I see there are only 12 live presentations, all available as a livestream. The conference has no social activities, no hotel room block, no vendors. It costs more to attend in person (plus travel costs).

My before and after of a memorial cleaning for a 1st cousin twice removed. John had a rough transition after the war and had no descendants to look after his burial site. Rest in peace, John Bradley. #genealogy

@ayeshabarb.bsky.social I did a search on Arkansas genealogy, and your name popped up! I have a line of my family (Rogers) who lived in Northern Arkansas from about 1850 on. Doing research in Arkansas has been challenging!

Louder for the people in the back: almost the entirety of military aid to Ukraine was spent here in the US. Jobs, factories, infrastructure.
Vance is completely wrong here. US military sales to Ukraine served as a catalyst to rebuild our production capacity for our own potential military needs. I bet you'll never hear him say the same thing about US missiles fired to defend Israel, though that did deplete short-term stocks.

Here's what I did last week, in accordance with the oath I took: I supported and defended the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Even when I'm not working on it, I'm still thinking about it!

I don't know if this link to Facebook will work, but Dry Tortugas National Park (in the Florida Keys) is looking for help transcribing their Civil War era records. www.facebook.com/share/p/14so.... I signed up to help with the prison records! #genealogy

Thank you Daniel!
Today’s tip is about being proactive.

Remember that there’s a lesser influence by algorithms here, what you share, others *will* see.

So, liking a post doesn’t put it in other people’s timelines. If you want them to see it you, *need* to repost.

Quote post or repost, your choice, just use it. 😀🔃💬

Any #genealogy people familiar with #Belgium out there? Planning a family history trip in 2025 and trying to learn more! My family is from Hainaut province if that helps.

Whoah. TIL that Gretchen Rubin of the Happiness podcast and author of The Four Tendencies and Life in Five Senses, is also the same Gretchen Rubin who graduated from Yale Law, clerked for Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court and wrote books about Winston Churchill and JFK. Mind blown.

I had this great idea for an intro post featuring my great-grandmother, Margaret Chambers, but it got too long and I couldn't edit it, so hopefully you'll be satisfied with this wonderful picture for now. #genealogy
