Christopher Caldwell is a regular contributor to the @nytimes.com by the way, if you want to get a sense of what opinions the intelligentsia think are respectable and intriguing and which they think are beyond the pale.
This is how Christopher Caldwell begins his essay on Zohran Mamdani for the Claremont Review of Books.

I can relate to this: there is a well kept first generation blue V70R parked in our neighborhood that I fawn over every time I walk by. I have zero need for it but it is an object of beauty in my eyes.

As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

The greatest enemy that Zohran Mamdani faces in his mayoral tenure won't be Trump, Cuomo, or even Jonathan Greenblatt.

It'll be The New York Times and other media executives that are enraged and terrified that a 34-year-old immigrant backbencher just casually showed the world they are hypocrites
Zohran Mamdani loves his Astoria, Queens, neighborhood, and the feeling is mutual. But voters who live near Gracie Mansion, his new home when he comes Mayor in January, really wanted his opponent to win.

Keir Starmer was the model for centrists and popularists who insisted that moving right on issues, especially immigration, is how you win at politics.

Wonder if there will ever be any self-reflection here! Ah well nevertheless

I understand PG&E goofed on the transfer back to grid power last night in the Richmond leaving the neighborhood with yet another multi-hour outage? I hope this display of incompetence on PG&E's part is enough to gather the public will to take over their infrastructure in the city.

Another dozen or so authors could request a correction like this. "In Covid's Wake" egregiously misrepresents research and ignores the scientific consensus throughout. Embarrassing that it's being praised by credible outlets.

ICE shot Richard outside a mall. I visited mall security office. Guard said ICE and LAPD came in, used thumb drive to copy mall’s video footage, and THEN DELETED THE EVIDENCE from mall’s local drives. He showed me the missing timeline part saying “no data.”
Huge win for Richard Noticias LA, TikTok journalist shot by ICE. Criminal charges dismissed with prejudice, meaning can’t be refiled.

ICE did him DIRTY. Repeatedly. Inhumane treatment, basically medical torture.

Still in ICE custody on immigration case. They owe him unconditional release.

In America, where irony is dead, a hotel chain uses a policy denying shelter to local people, for fear of accidentally housing homeless persons…

To deny a reservation to the author of a much-lauded book on how American economic unfairness forces working people into homelessness.
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.

We didn't survive and thrive as a species because we had warriors or hunters - pretty much every omnivore can manage that.

We did so because we developed Grandmothers, and domesticated Dogs.

Community is what defines us as a species, and every "self-reliant" libertarian shitweasel be damned.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.
