Again today, I used @5calls.org to help frame a call on the Trump Budget Bill to my US representative
@repkimschrier.bsky.social and for the first time calling any of my Congress people, I got a staffer live on the call. Still used some of that script, but it was helpful. Call your representative.

Maybe this won’t calm my rage at Dem leadership in the Senate but I finally moved this to my currently-reading. Thanks for writing it @annaleen.bsky.social

Dear @murray.senate.gov , your voicemail is full so I emailed and will echo here. Washington voters demand strong, progressive leadership that does not cave to the starvation tactics of the Trump GOP. Serve the people, or be primaried with every ounce of energy, will and funding that we have.

Excellent thread about the Republican Party post-Trump and post-Kirk.
It’s a long and worthwhile read - note that Bluesky doesn’t display the full thread correctly for me so you may have to look at the OP’s timeline to see all the posts

I've noticed that there isn't much talk here about the current internecine war that is unfolding on the right, spearheaded in large part by Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I know this shit is insane and feels bad. But this is a mistake (1/)

here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

After having discovered the Southern Reach series by Jeff VanderMeer late and reading it this fall, I’m now reading the fourth book, the prequel, Absolution. This is such wild, crazy unique stuff (it’s sci-fi/fantasy/horror/mystery/ecoterrorism). Love it and don’t understand 60% of it :-)

I have a guest speaker for my class tonight - Heather Stringer, www.lifeinritual.com, helping us with how/why to make little rituals to help us process meaningful moments.
Consider 3 questions:
How do I want to live?
How do I help myself become present?
How do i imagine sharing my life w/others?

Uhh, this is important and dystopian
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

In case you need a personal reminder: COVID is still out there, and we're in an upswing again. Spouse and I picked it up two weekends ago, tested positive early last week. Started Paxlovid, but I was still testing positive a few days ago and had to cancel a business trip.

The people who think the government should be run like a business are killing something that has a 180% ROI. THAT is how you bankrupt a casino.
