A group of youth climate researchers affiliated with UC Davis is trying to fix climate models to correct for fossil fuel industry propaganda that has snuck its way in. But... of course their funding was just cut. :(

So they're doing a GoFundMe.

If these were normal times, I would not be unsettled by the fact that, for more than half an hour this morning, the website of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture was inaccessible. I'd assume it was a glitch.

These being Trumpian times, it was very unsettling.

The buff-tip moth (Phalera bucephala) has mastered a very particular kind of camouflage.

When they close their wings up, they resemble a broken twig.

Native to large parts of Europe, there's regional pattern variation that reflects the local tree species. This one best resembles birch twigs?

Had to stop by this sign outside the Moshannon Valley Detention Center. The GEO Group donated $1M+ to Trump’s campaign. Now they’re profiting off of locking up kids using our taxpayer dollars. The corruption is clear.

Thank you to the local residents, clergy, & advocates for standing against this.

This is exactly why we need to be organized in our defense of the freedom to read. The book banners are organized & we'll funded. But they are also unpopular. Our numbers can beat their money
Majority of attempts to ban books in US come from organised groups, not parents
Last year 72% of demands to censor books were initiated by pressure groups and government entities; with just 16% of ban attempts made by parents
