As we count down to #DarwinDay, we're re-visiting some great pieces on why we teach evolution! "Teaching and discussing evolution opens so many doors to scientific inquiry and understanding." https://ncse.ngo/bridging-chasm-between-evolution-and-faith
Bridging the chasm between evolution and faith | National Center for Science Education
Growing up in the South, I understood that evolution was not something discussed in proper company. As part of a deeply religious, literalist, creationist family, I knew evolution was something that was not to be considered for fear of losing one’s place in Heaven.

As we count down to #DarwinDay, we're re-visiting some great pieces on why we teach evolution! "Evolution provides us with the "why" in biology..." https://ncse.ngo/making-sense-biology
Making sense of biology | National Center for Science Education
I am a lineal academic descendent of the Russian-born geneticist Theodosius Dobzhansky, who said in his famous 1973 essay: "Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution." No truer words have ever been penned in our field.

As we count down to #DarwinDay, we're re-visiting some great pieces on why we teach evolution! "Let us also ask the question from a student’s point of view: Why learn evolution?" https://ncse.ngo/why-teach-and-learn-about-evolution
Why teach (and learn) about evolution? | National Center for Science Education
Why teach evolution? A school administrator might answer simply that the district teaches evolution because it a required part of the science curriculum. Evolution is in the standards and a school would be derelict in its educational duty if its textbooks and curriculum failed to include it.

As we count down to #DarwinDay, we're re-visiting some great pieces on why we teach evolution! "Evolution isn't just a story about where we came from. It's an epic at the center of life itself." https://ncse.ngo/why-teach-evolution-1
Why teach evolution? | National Center for Science Education
Biology is the science of life, and it is arguably the most challenging of all the sciences. Not only does biology build upon the principles of chemistry and physics, it also adds new layers of complexity requiring an entirely different form of scientific analysis.
