Japan's "Mundane Halloween" costume contest is back!

Each year website DailyPortalZ holds a contest where people dress up as something super duper ordinary.

Here's a thread of some of my favorites from the 2025 contest!

Once more for the drivers on their phones.
Did you know most fatal and injury-causing traffic collisions in our municipality happen around intersections. Crosswalks exist at all intersections, whether they are marked or unmarked. Drivers must always yield to pedestrians. halifax.ca/transportati...

This is who I want a Halifax AAA bike network for. It’s not just for me (although I do enjoy bike lanes). It’s not just for the “200” of us (more like thousands) who are currently using them. It’s for the tens of thousands who don’t feel safe taking a chance on biking right now.
The huge hidden demand of people that want to cycle, but feel they can’t, because of perceived or actual danger
Customer return: "My kids love it and I love it, but drivers in our area are not used to bikes. If I go in the car lane, people are cursing and honking at us for slowing them down. I can't find a route that feels safe." 😡#bunchfam

Rode my bike to work and back today (something I’ve been starting to do some over the last year). On a journey where I normally see one or two other folks on bikes, I encountered more than a dozen others going in the same and opposite directions.

AI will write the papers to upload to the corporate upload dump machine which will use AI to grade the papers and upload them to AI language mining centers filled w/nonsense. Meanwhile the brains of students and teachers rot separately as they stare at AI memes and videos on their terrible phones.
“…faculty members will be able to click an icon that connects them with various AI features…, like a grading tool, a discussion-post summarizer… Canvas’s parent company, Instructure, is also in partnership w/ OpenAI… so instructors can use generative-AI technology as part of their assignments.”
Instructors Will Now See AI Throughout a Widely Used Course Software
New features integrated into Canvas include a grading assistant, a discussion-post summarizer, and even a way to pair assignments with generative AI tools.

Traffic isn’t caused by bike lanes, it’s caused by too many cars. It’s time for real solutions, not scapegoating.

I find it incredibly sad that conservatives on the east coast have needlessly politicized cycling and cycling infrastructure.

In Victoria, we take an evidenced-based approach. Our 45 km of protected bike lanes have

✅ Doubled the % of cyclists
✅ Reduced congestion
✅ Reduced serious accidents by 37%

Took the bus home from convocation today. A new grad, holding her diploma, got on the bus just after me and the driver greeted her with an enthusiastic “Congratulations!” ❤️❤️❤️

Daydreaming now, but can’t help but notice that last NYC show is close to @sappyfest.bsky.social A little Maritime hospitality and some #swampmagic would be a great tour ender IMHO #cansomeonemakethathappen
Very bummed to hear this. Wish there were Canadian tour dates as a consolation.
