📣 New preprint 📣

We present a detailed map of nascent and mature ribosomal RNAs in mouse hematopoiesis and AML (including absolute rRNA molecule numbers), and outline principles of rDNA regulation.

Work by Eleanor Sams (@eleanor44.bsky.social) & Victoria Feist (@victoriafeist.bsky.social). (1/x)
Dynamics of Ribosomal RNA Transcription and Abundance in Normal and Leukemic Hematopoiesis
Transcription of ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs) from rDNA repeats is the first step of ribosome biogenesis, accounting for a major portion of all cellular transcription. Often regarded as a housekeeping proce...

Dr. Pavan spent decades studying rare diseases at NIH. Today, he’s battling one: first diagnosed with MDS-RARSt and, later, myelofibrosis. A stem cell transplant from his son saved his life, made possible in part by NIH-funded research. Learn more: https://ow.ly/XaWp50XXqtu

Are any of you happy with how your ScienCV-generated biosketch looks? I'm not quite satisfied with mine (formatting, flow, etc), and would love to look at other examples for customization ideas! Please message me if you'd be willing to swap biosketches (confidentially, of course)!

Love to see insights arising from unique and fascinating analyses of existing massive datasets! 😀

Credit where credit is due! NCBI helpdesk replied a week after my initial request, and merged my two accounts. I can now make my ScienCV Biosketch!
Just realized that the glitches I'm having with ScienCV are because I have two NCBI accounts... My ORCiD is linked to the obsolete acct, which means that I can't link it to my current acct... I've send a message to NCBI support desk to merge accts, and I hope they are staffed enough to respond...

Portrait of @nobelprize.org laureate Carol Greider for the @nationalacademies.org.

Alongside her mentor Elizabeth Blackburn, Dr Greider identified telomerase, an enzyme that maintains the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes known as telomeres.

If you’ve heard me talk in the past ~5 years, you will know I have developed an obsession with acrocentric chromosomes. This is all of that, condensed into one paper. I will do a full thread in the new year, but for those that want something to read over the holidays, have at it. Such a cool story!
