V excited to deduce late last night via some old geo paper snooping that I currently reside within a hundred vertical meters or so of the local K-T (now k-pg, Cretaceous-Paleogene but whatevs) boundary layer (nonconforming tho…). Gotta ramble and dig into this! Seems topical 🦖

Ketan Joshi's Irrational Climate Reset

I am calling for a return to the wild, unacceptable and unthinkably weird idea that we can decide not to live under the thumb of an expensive, deadly and ancient fossil fuel economy

No more hand-wringing about pragmatism. Be idealistic, and don't be sorry 🤜🏽

Deeply dislike the extent this and informal variations of, presumes we = this current paradigm of society/civ and there are no passable alternatives.

Yes, this version of society is not going to endure for long! No that doesn’t mean “we” broadly, recognizably, won’t!

future = change = us*
Which are you on climate change?

It's been a while since I've read a critique that balances both sides of the story so well.

I am a millennial, and I love Brutalism. I don't defend the outcome, but I do admire the misplaced utopian desire that went into these buildings.

Mostly, I just wish we had architecture again.

How do you make predictions in an atmospheric environment that is no longer predictable due to man-made climate change? 😭

Nearly a quarter-century ago, Dick Cheney personally meddled in a govt report finding that Klamath Basin fish actually need, y’know, water—an act that led directly to the catastrophic salmon die-off in 2002 and thus paved dam removal’s way. Now Dick’s dead and the Klamath lives. Makes ya think.

Most mainstream news coverage about oil companies rapidly heating the planet, when there is any, is rated G for 5 yr olds.

Here is an excellent PG-13, or if you’re a lifestyle liberal, NC-17, breakdown of what’s here/what’s coming.

NSFW if u work at a big bank, oil company, Corp news media.
