Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz after touring "Alligator Alcatraz": "These detainees are living in cages. The pictures you've seen don't do it just. They are essentially packed into cages. 34 detainees per cage...they get their drinking water & they brush their teeth where they poop, in the same unit"

"Nearly half of white students admitted to Harvard between 2009 and 2014 were legacy students or Dean’s Interest List—a list of applicants whose relatives have donated to Harvard, the existence of which only became public knowledge in 2018"

75% of them would not have been admitted otherwise

The recipe for economic growth isn’t tax cuts for the rich.

It’s investment in our people — in health care, infrastructure and education — to build a strong middle class.

You don't grow the economy through trickle-down nonsense — yet that's what this GOP budget is all about.

Excellent long read on where we go from here as we assert the United States is no home for kings.
As we go out to exercise our First Amendment rights today, this is something worth reading first from @deepakbhargava.bsky.social. Then share with everyone you meet today on how we go forward from here for our democracy and a better future. #NoKings www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
We are no longer free. But we can win our freedom back
To meet this moment in US history, we need to revisit the rich – and successful – tradition of nonviolent protest

Head start is an amazing program that benefits low income kids in development, throughout school, more likely to be healthy, more likely to improve their economic status and way more!!!

Eliminating the program is WRONG!!!
Head Start, an early childhood education program for low income families, is on the chopping block. Growing up, my own mom was an aide with the program; it’s helped countless young mothers, including the one who tells her story here.

Trumpers would be wise to reconsider their assault on the rule of law. B/c one day, if they are not careful, someone might anonymously denounce them or throw them in prison without a trial. That’s what happens when you break norms. You never know what might happen next once the guardrails are off.
These People Are a Joke
Want to see how much of a pretzel Trumpers have twisted themselves into in order to justify the abduction and unlawful rendition of Kilmar Abrego García?
