Software, data, AI/ML and bioinformatics. Currently doing 6-base (epi-)genomics at biomodal. Previously BenevolentAI and SwiftKey.
We were delighted to get a reviewers choice award for the abstract describing our work applying duet evoC to early detection of early stage cancer, available as a preprint here www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... #ASHG24
5-methylcytosine and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine are synergistic biomarkers for early detection of colorectal cancer
Early cancer detection has the potential to significantly improve treatment outcomes and survival rates. This study investigates the roles of 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) ...

Just landed back in London, still buzzing from #ASHG24. It's been great to see the growing interest in multiomics in the ASHG community and the interest in our technology as part of that. We are shaping up for an exciting 2025 🚀

I don't know how much activity happens on here these days, but if anyone on here will be at #ASHG24 next week and would like to chat abouy 5mC / 5hmC and the six-base genome, please reach out. I'll be there Tuesday to Friday afternoon with several posters and an industrial session from biomodal

Very happy to share this work. We show that measuring both 5mC and 5hmC provides greater discrimination of stage I colorectal cancer in cfDNA! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... 🧬💻

Just over 10 years ago in my postdoc I wrote a review on CpG island hypermethylation in cancer. At the time, the molecular mechanisms were unclear. Its amazing how far we've come since then 😮 and this new pre-print is another important part of the puzzle:
