G just told me his cinema “flex”: he saw a test screening of This Is Spinal Tap. He had to fill out one of those little cards at the end! Dang!
Dune (1984)
Brain Candy
Mystery Science Theater: The Movie
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)

Durham friends: check this infographic to see if you were exposed to measles. And get a titer test and find out if you need another MMR! Measles is no joke and it’s here.
An individual with measles visited 3 Durham locations on February 6. Learn more here: dconc.gov/DurhamCo-New.... If you were in one of these locations during the affected time frames, get vaccinated if you are unvaccinated, monitor your symptoms for 21 days, & call your doctor symptoms develop.

G just told me that not only does he recognize the theater the show in A Mighty Wind takes place in, he saw The Roches there.

Tonight’s movie: A Mighty Wind. G’s pick! Continuing our Catherine O’Hara tribute.

I’m making braised chicken with apricots and harissa! Well, I’m making it tomorrow. Today I’m marinating the chicken and watching the RiffTrax MST3K live chat!

I got a new comfy chair! My birthday present to myself 😍 I found the orange fabric at Scrap Exchange. It’s so comfortable and looks so nice in this space!

Testing my new ADC with a record and it works great! Tomorrow I borrow the tape deck so I can rip the Hazel Scott cassette. This is so exciting!

As a child I thought a lot about this box cover. I imagined that she was the mastermind and he was her flunky. You had to play against him while she stared at you with her death glare.
SALES DIRECTOR: Why no kitchen table?

DESIGN LEAD: Because kitchen tables are for fucking Candyland. We’re selling a political mode of thinking: deduction as power. Think less “family night,” and more “I will find the hidden structure of your choices, and then I will destroy you.”

Appreciate Frank for this shout out. As excited as I am for new Mike episodes, I love S11-13 and don't want to see it (or the great people who worked on it) "memory holed." There's room in my heart for all the great MST3K!
The young'uns that were hired for the previous MST3K reboot were all very talented, and did a great job, but this time around the concept is, "What if we gave the old farts from the original show a shot?" Why not, right? I think it's gonna be fun.
We're SO excited to announce Trace Beaulieu and Frank Conniff will be the guest bad guys on the fourth and final show of this run. In addition to that, Trace and Frank will be cowriting this episode along with the RiffTrax gang. We're over the moon!

Meanwhile I’m starting on this Sunday’s theme show! This one will be easier because I did a lot of the prep already in case I had to do it on the 1st. Basically all I have to do is read the book, figure out the talk sets, grab some rare audio I want to include and make sure all the sets make sense

I’m so excited I found someone to lend me a tape deck so I can digitize this and include it in the Hazel Scott tribute show on the 22nd!! The CD has most of her work and the cassette is her very rare final recordings, never released on CD

if we can't have MST3K: Megaforce (which I totally get why they don't want to do a movie RiffTrax has already done) then I can't image anything better than this
In 1978, David Carradine starred in a Roger Corman produced post-apocalyptic feature from the director of Caddy Shack II. In 2026, it will be one of the four films covered in The RiffTrax Experiments! It's time for Deathsport!

I think the Lonnie Johnson show went well! Here's the playlist. The local show wasn't on so I got to play a few extra songs. This Sunday they will be so I'll have to end right on time. It's hard to do with these theme shows! There's so much great music & I want to play it all, and so much to say

The show is done, I lit a fire, and I am doing fuck all for rest of the day. It’s funny, these theme shows aren’t much work the day of the show, all the work is in advance, but I’m still always so tired afterwards :)

Tonight’s movie: Message From Space. AWESOME Japanese Star Wars clone. Featured in the new @rifftrax.com “Hunks of Junk” which we watched last night and we had to see the original!

I think the show is ... ready? I have a playlist, it's 2 hrs long, (almost) every song I really wanted is in there. All I have left to do is write notes for the talksets. Going to do that in the morning, now it's on to poll worker training! Which they finally released yesterday
