We said goodbye to Ferguson yesterday. He was our constant companion for 19 years, and the house is very empty and quiet today, except for the memories of his meowing down the hallway.

So last year my wife and I started celebrating the end of each week with a bottle of inexpensive sparkling wine, whether it was cava, prosecco or otherwise. We called them “champagne Fridays.”
We just discovered a drink called the French 75, and this is our new coping mechanism for 2026.
