The average person may be ignorant or uncaring but anyone paying the barest attention KNOWS that queer people in particular rely on each other and on informal networks to tell each other our stories, support each other, advise each other. It's WHY many parents are so fucking militant about phones.

since iirc this only lasts till january before theres risk of another shutdown, it could have been "we'll shut it down again if the aca legislation doesnt pass", or "add in extra appropriations for federal workers & SNAP or we wont budge", but the issue there is that they dont care. they never did.
This is actually good spin, or would have been. But the fact that the Democratic cave happened without even a coordinated, agreed-upon message like this indicates the depth of the leadership void.
