if you release an analog stick it actually has quite a lot of bounce in the other direction on the way back. beyond a reasonable deadzone. I'm not sure if I'm expected to compensate for this at the game level or not...

I think the issue I have with the art style of the halo remake is that it changes the vibes too much. I remember Halo as being full of brutalist concrete structures. The remake says "that was a tech limitation, they were meant to be shiny sci-fi metal instead"

Still in the localization mines for a bit but I gotta tackle Gamepad Controls after that. For a game that is so heavily mouse + keyboard based with all the UI being designed around it, I'm not sure I have a better way to handle most of that other than "fancy virtual mouse".

I need to talk to whoever at @suckerpunchprod.bsky.social decided that, rather than use the yellow paint gamers always complain about, they instead highlight climbable surfaces with bird shit, and if this was a calculated decision.

chatgpt is very good at python these days. kinda spent most of the day having it write ad hoc scripts to migrate text from data files to localization spreadsheets for me. requires pretty specific instructions to do well now, but gets it all mostly correct without much prodding now

shipped the last significant gameplay related feature in mewgenics today, all thats left now is finishing up cutscenes, plus balance, testing, and polish. also localization and gamepad controls
