Why this obsession with expansion? Can’t a small business just stay small, do what it does well, and share increased revenues with its employees- or drop prices to better support its customers in hard times?

I voted in the Texas Amendment election here in Bastrop. Some stuff you might want to vote against there if you are pro checks-and-balances and against corporate greed and racism. If you want a cheat sheet, here is mine, being as progressive as I could with the knowledge I had. #Texas #Elections

What strikes me about your summary is “big sugar” “big tobacco.” Are we returning to the age of mercantilism with all its nasty accoutrements…
Big tech
Big sugar
Big panopticon
Tobacco

I once lived in Carrboro! Now in a smaller Texas small town. We too rallied! Good to see smaller communities doing their part.

Pretty good turn out for #NoKings in #Bastrop Texas. More people trickling in to rally point. Exciting to have a new candidate Clayton Tucker for Texas Ag Commissioner here with us.

My somewhat bad punny signs for Bastrop, TX No Kings day (context: we are known as the “Lost Pines” area due to being in an area with pines normally only seen in Eastern Texas.)

Valid point!
Feel like if this is how the law works, there’s no reason to make a budget deal because there’s no reason to believe anything that you win via Congress will actually happen anyway.

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

May I turn your attention to exhibit (US)”A”?
You will see what happens if you give this kind of rhetoric even a smidgen of legitimacy.
No.

You say you were whatever you like but you are racists.

I wish I could still be shocked and surprised by the level of hypocrisy and selective “logic” that this nation’s admin in power and all its state-level cronies employ.
I am just going to keep posting that the TX governor recently pardoned a political murderer.

The dude texted "I'm going to shoot protestors", then went and shot a Black Lives Matter protester. He was convicted in a jury trial.

Hard to find a more blatant example of celebrating political violence.
Gov. Greg Abbott pardons Daniel Perry, veteran who killed police brutality protester in 2020
A Travis County jury sentenced Perry to 25 years in prison last year, prompting Abbott to ask the state parole board to review his case.

We should all be as brave as Hilton Hotel Workers. Across the board, from teachers to healthcare workers to hospitality, we are long overdue for activism.
BREAKING: Workers at Houston’s Hilton Americas hotel are ON STRIKE — because one job should be enough!

This is the first strike of Texas hotel workers in modern history. ✊🏽

I was today years old when I found out I share a birthday with JD Vance. 😬

Does also sharing a birthday with James Baldwin negate this in any way?

Based maga logic, it is now essential to deport all border patrol agents, since one bad apple means they are all criminals. Let’s go!

Because racism before humanitarianism before bipartisanism. Welcome to Texas, even the corruption’s bigger here.

Also, this open corruption/racism seems viscerally worse than the usual hidden stuff. I have my ideas, but what are your thoughts on why that is?

I love that Brazil is all like, “Yeah, no” to Trump. But what’s up with this “defying” BS? Since when does the Trumpyre have the right to exert power over other nation’s justice systems? Let’s try language like: “the Brazilian courts held firm in the face of Trump’s unwarranted demands.” Do better!

And yet again they have enabled the continued destruction. Even if not “final” it allows a dismantling that will be hard to fix once we get these awful, heartless people out of office.
