Thrilled to share a new paper in @jamapsychiatry.com on path asymmetry in complex dynamic systems of psychopathology! jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

With amazing collaborators @tfblanken.bsky.social, Han van der Maas, & Denny Borsboom 🥳
Path Asymmetry in Complex Dynamic Systems of Psychopathology
This article illustrates the assumption of path symmetry in current theories of psychopathology and calls for the development of dynamical systems of mental illness that incorporate asymmetry.

Very excited to present some preliminary results on prediction of longitudinal changes in anxiety symptoms using modelling and symptom dynamics, an exciting collaboration with Miquel Angel Fullana and Carles Soriano-Mas ^^
📆Save the date: new lecture series

[1/4] This Wednesday, October 29 at 1 p.m., we are launching a new, hybrid series of guest talks organized the Center of Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience (CAIAN) in Bonn.

🏡 🏳️‍🌈 ❤️ ☔ How to set up a transparent and supportive lab environment?

I would love to hear from you, PIs postdocs, students!

What are the things that work and that don't, what do you wish to have in place? Any examples of lab manuals?

Comments, DMs or emails welcome (ondrej.zika@pm.me)

😍 Our latest is out now in @commspsychol.nature.com. 🤩 We show with Bayesian modelling and experimental manipulation of uncertainty that developmental differences in social influence depend on differences in the internal uncertainty people have about their choice

Internal uncertainty impacts social information use in risky choice across adolescence - Communications Psychology
Adolescents’ choices are influenced by others. A social risky choice experiment and Bayesian modelling reveal that age differences in internal uncertainty, being unsure how to choose, relate to differences in susceptibility to social influence.

Postdoc affordability index for ERC starting grants (based on Eurozone inflation)

While in 2014, the fixed 1.5 mil EUR budget amounted to 9.84 theoretical 3-postdoc positions, in 2024 we are at 6.67, that's 32.3% loss in purchasing power.

I will just leave it here.

Big congrats to Marishka on this. I know how much time and effort went into it. Really happy to see it out! For those interested, she replicated prior longitudinal results using an approach-avoidance conflict task and showed how model parameters afforded out-of-sample clinical prediction.
