Assistant Professor in Psychology at University College Dublin 🇮🇪

Studying brain, uncertainty and learning in the context of mental health using computational models
Postdoc affordability index for ERC starting grants (based on Eurozone inflation)

While in 2014, the fixed 1.5 mil EUR budget amounted to 9.84 theoretical 3-postdoc positions, in 2024 we are at 6.67, that's 32.3% loss in purchasing power.

I will just leave it here.

Finally, I also checked whether the LLMs can actually spot the injections. Gemini did spot it in 97% of cases, while ChatGPT only did in ~17%.

Essentially no LLM spotted the prompt when it was not directly instructed to do so.

... but, asking an LLM to check for prompts also made it much less likely to recommend the paper for publication. [Some healthy skepticism there?]

This was similar when asked about scientific quality and presence of any major flaws.

I scraped unpublished manuscripts from bioarxiv and injected half of them with a hidden prompt.

I then asked three LLMs to review the paper - in half cases I told the LLM to check for prompt injections.

📈 Prompt injections lead to more recommendations
📉 Prompt checks eliminated this effect
