I've collated all 23 parts of the Velvet Underground Press Myth into one post. From January 1966 each month has its own post with clippings from regional press: full of live reviews, plenty of reviews of the album, NIco and many strange and obscure VU things

Went to the supermarket with a tea towel around my neck. Tried to style it out as an outré cravat as if I was in Duran Duran or summat.

Always have to treble check rogue/rogue when I put them in a headline. Rouge traders (red-faced butchers, make-up artists or pantomime dame suppliers).

Yorkshire folk!

The daughter of a friend's friend is making a film about the bands that played at Minsthorpe High School in the late 80s/early 90s – the likes of the Weddoes, Cud, House of Love etc.

They're trying to track down the teachers who put the bands on – Mel and Trev. Anyone know them?

This film based on my story from Dance Move is now BAFTA longlisted. There was such an incredible group of people, all playing their parts, so that this project actually happened. Just brilliant.

Related to this I lost a lot of work in December because I was ill, and my diary is currently very empty.

If you need some writing, research or a voice or anything else similar doing, please let me know!

I'm very flexible (despite hurtling towards middle age at an alarming speed).
I'm immunosuppressed.

I got my flu jab this year and STILL got flu before Christmas and was really, really ill.

This sort of bullshit needs to be nipped in the bud because it's terrifying.

It's not a matter of opinion. There's no "two sides".
Farage: "I believe in vaccinations when they're vaccinations. I don't think what happened with Covid were vaccinations. You have to keep having them every 6 months."

Conspiratorial nonsense.

Some vaccinations like Covid shots require multiple/seasonal doses because immunity fades & viruses change.

Chalamet's got a 'must-have windbreaker' apparently (The Observer). I must admit I thought windbreakers were jaunty nylon/wooden pole affairs to stop sand blowing onto sandwiches on beaches. Chalamat appears to be wearing a shell suit top or a skinny anorak.

I've got a new collection coming out in 2026 (Thin Places in Hard Concrete) so you'd better crack on and read the previous two.
Between them ‘Municipal Gothic’ and ‘Intervals of Darkness’ have 27 stories full of haunted buildings, haunted people, and working class weirdness. Obviously *I* think they're great – but so do strangers who owe me nothing!
