Where does it go from here? Is it down to the lake I fear? Ay-yah-yah-yah. Dave Griffiths. Newspaper sub (print). Used to make Barmcake magazine.

Fancy running a Sam Smith's pub? This is the Commercial, Huddersfield, a beautiful building with a soulless Smith's vibe and bog standard ales. I get the convo in pubs thing, but the place needs a jukey/bands to give it a bit of life. Terms seem generous though.

Painting of newspaper reader on the wall of the Bulkeley Hotel, Beaumaris. I like it, although his get-up makes it look as though newspapers died out 80 years ago.

Back cover of 1973 Giles annual (collection in The King's Head, Hudds). Used to get these every Crimbo as a nipper. This cartoon is at odds with the usual topical stuff Carl Giles did. Gran character was my favourite.

Clint Eastwood was, of course, born in Wakefield and here is where his family's old business operated. It was a butcher's where there was a weekly offal raffle. In an early example of advertising, customers were asked: 'Feeling lucky with the offal raffle?'

I don't think I've ever been down Back Pool Fold before today - a snicket-esque lane in the centre of Manc - and I definitely haven't seen this plaque before. I expect a few frothers would love ducking stools to come back.

Very excited with the dials on the new toaster. Retro Flash Gordon/Morris Minor vibe. Set the controls for the heart of the bun.

Bought The Sunday Times to have a nosey at the uni rankings. Waded through the flabby supplements and awful columnists to find this. Jeez!

Hugely excited about the return of the International Crisp Festival, at the Sportsman pub, Huddersfield, and great to see Fleetwood Snack are playing.

No words wasted in the News, Gossip, Scandal section of Bradford Camra mag Tyke Taverner. The short sentences spotlight the largely gloomy news.

When did patchouli become posh? I always associate it with heavy metallers in my youth, the soil-y stench of patchouli wafting from their denims.

Needed a special birthday card for a Billy Liar fan and
@8bitnorthxstitch.bsky.social came up trumps. He's going to frame it.

Ah, the King's Head, Huddersfield. It's closing on Friday for a month due to train station shenanigans. Look at those lovely floor tiles and Jimi on the table (hence the King's Head, he said mansplainingly) Fab beers and bands too.

The Super Supersock! Advert in Grayston Unity, Halifax. Not really selling it to me. He looks twitchy, moody. Too many short sentences. Too many product names.

Loved Dennis Morris' exhibition at The Photographers' Gallery. Marley & the Pistols pics are the headliners but there are some wonderful portraits of people in his studio and out and about - eg the lad with his sisters and briefcase looking slightly weary about having to look after his siblings.

Queen Mother photo in Wood House, Dulwich. She used to do a Friday shift here apparently.

The always lovely Barbican. The building, the plants, the art, the nooks and crannies where people beaver away on their computers.
