In my second year in secondary school, our English teacher devoted so many lessons to (obviously non-syllabus) Masquerade. He was desperate to find it.

When the hare was found, he read a long newspaper report on it to us. I've never heard anyone read something out loud in such a heartbroken manner.

You want to know the best bargain in all this land's supermarkets?

It's undeniably Lidl's apple strudel. Just £1.55 (regular price, not offer). And it tastes blinking lush.

I'd put good money on me being the only person in this whole supermarket currently singing Microdisney's Teddy Dogs to himself.

Can't seem to get backing for my film project "Noah: The Early Years". They all say the narrative lacks an ark.

Of the last twelve authors who have won the Booker Prize, only two (Marlon James and Douglas Stuart) have published another novel since their win. Obviously very recent winners skew the stat, but still a surprising figure to me.

Worth a read (though you may need to register to read it for free):
That difficult second Booker: the long-term impact of a win
In the week since its victory, 2025’s Booker winner David Szalay’s Flesh experienced a boost of 1,441% in week-on-week sales, according to NielsenIQ BookData.

Today is the anniversary of Kennedy's assassination.

Of course, if you ask me where I was when JFK was shot, I can genuinely answer that I was on the sixth floor of the Book Depository building in Dallas, Texas. 100 per cent true.

The real highlight of Clevedon's 3-1 win over Helston today was the guy behind us having the Terry & June theme tune as his ringtone.

Still makes me smile every time I hear it.
Have always loved this Cathal Coughlan line:

"And one night in Swansea I held you / You were frisky from all that MDMA."

Just back in from seeing Game, the film my mates Geoff, Marc and Rob (and a few others) have made. The boys done good! Very proud of them.

On general release from this Friday, but still plenty of screenings with post-film Q&As. Go see!
