One lesson we must take from Covid is that we need serious politicians in Government making serious plans for the biggest threats to society. These include inequality, health, pandemics, food, climate change, building renewables and protecting nature.

In 2001, terrorists tried to destroy the White House with a hijacked plane. 24 years later, the president of the United States accepted a plane from people funding terrorists and destroyed the White House himself.🔄

Growing up, I remember lots of sniggering about the tinpot leaders of Africa, well, any notion of our “western superiority” in politics is surely finally eviscerated by the last few years and the client media that offered so many helpful hands

If you're still using peat based compost, it really is time to stop. It's dug straight out of precious natural habitat and releases tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere (literally) in the process. Here's a guide, there are loads of good brands out there www.jackwallington.com/how-to-figur...
How to figure out if a compost brand is good or not and the brands of peat free compost I use | Jack Wallington | Nature & Gardens
Around the world the vast majority of plants on earth grow in a mix of mineral soil and composted organic matter - only those in peatland grow in peat. Over the last ten years I have grown almost ever...

Here I am in 2020 in the flimsiest, most pitful PPE - like so many other NHS staff, some of whom died from the Covid they caught in their hospitals.

Tory peer Michelle Mone - who today lost her legal case & must repay the govt £122m - dares to claim she’s been ‘scapegoated’.

What, Michelle? 🧵

This for Labour too
My general belief is that Dems need to spend more time thinking about what they believe and less about what they think some imaginary swing voters want them to believe.

Political strategy will stem from an authentic set of beliefs.
This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...

"Nigel Farage has refused to rule out a link between paracetamol and autism" is the lead item on LBC News.

Why?

Why?

He's not a doctor, he's not an expert, he's not a Minister, he's not the PM, he's not the opposition. Why is his bullshit the most important item on the news?

Why?

As a Brit, I endorse this post
I confess I become increasingly irritated with Brits who inform me in what kind of deep trouble my country is in, and how blind we are supposedly to this, at a time when right wing nationalism is surging in Britain and NATO is hanging by a thread.

Too often people go to university to ‘explore research and knowledge’

Look forward to Wes S saying 'too often people go to hospital to have operations' or Heidi Alexander saying 'too often people go to the station to catch a train'

In the 1930s Mosley and his rank and file BUF were careful not to outwardly portray themselves as racists.

They weren't antisemitic... far from it... they were just concerned about "bad principles" and "international bankers" and the influx of foreigners

Everyone knew what they meant.
