The first time I stopped here, I sat in the dark in pouring rain and drank cold coffee out of a paper cup. Now they’ve got a roof and posh mugs. Nicky’s food bar is a legend. #spinerace #pennineway

One of my happiest running memories: when Zaro ran to greet me coming into a checkpoint on the North Tyne Trail ultra. In those pre-arthritis days, he used to join me on every run, so having him with me for 100m on an ultra was lovely.

Reasons why I run: to watch the changing seasons. It's still a little chilly out, but the signs of spring are everywhere. Running on the hills is a wonderful way to experience the way things change.

Not the most attractive leg in the world; but these days, I have to spend far more time doing stretching and mobility work in the gym than lifting weights. Keeping this old body moving is hard work! #ultrarunning

It was a bit misty up on the hills, but the jog back home along the beck was rather pretty. Slowly building the miles back up again.

I had a trip up Ingleborough in the spring sunshine; a lovely trip but my legs and lungs complained loudly. Does anyone know a coach who specialises in geriatric runners trying to get back to ultras?
