Hey, friends.

Please remember that feeling bad does not actually make you a better person or help anyone.

Decouple action from emotion. Do what you can to help while feeling as good as you can.

People to object to you *feeling* happy, regardless of your actions, are being pointlessly cruel.

Tonight is the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s midnight ride. May his memory remind us all to resist the tyranny forming in our government.

I’ve always been a scarf and shawl knitter. Last week I started my first sweater (Jane Cardigan) and I honestly don’t know why I avoided sweaters for so long. Much easier than expected so far, and turning out well. #knitting

Georgians have made their voices loud and clear: NO CUTS TO MEDICAID.

I’m speaking on the Senate floor to oppose the Washington Republican budget because it’s nothing more than Robin Hood in reverse.

It’s a moral imperative that we stop this bill from becoming law. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Rvr...

nearly 25 hours on the Senate floor, and he didn’t even need to read Dr Suess. It’s a rare day to be truly proud of an elected official @booker.senate.gov

Here is my best guidance for action, rendered beautifully by the great John Lithgow. I first published these lessons more than eight years ago, in late 2016. They open the twenty chapters of "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century."

Observations during #boycottAmazon week:

- if you search hard enough, you can find alternatives for practically everything

- many retailers offer free shipping too, once you spend a minimum amount

- some prices are even cheaper than Amazon

- I can learn to live with a lot less Amazon in my life

Hello friends. I know times are dark but it is incredibly important not to lose hope. And, this week there are signs of hope and it paramount we recognize that hope, not let up and build. A thread on this if I may. You may appreciate this on a Friday. Come along with me. 🧵 (1/10)

Rep Raskin has been great. Rep Ocasio-Cortez has been great. And Rep Frost and Rep Crockett. Senator Murphy. Maybe no one knew exactly what to do. But such people laid down a clear marker. Let’s respect these and other elected federal representatives who stood out these first few weeks.

Anything they want, hide it or mislabel it. Anything they plug in, unplug it. Remove light bulbs. Move cubicles around so they hide some of the doors and when they leave the room move them again so they hide different doors. Play really loud music. Think like a cat and sabo tabby yourself a mess

I sincerely don’t know why people aren’t physically stopping those dorks. Move shit. Lock doors. Lose the keys. Everyone switch seats. Turn off all the lights. Switch the signs on the elevator lobby. Make the settings all silly. Use a different language. Wear costumes. Fill rooms with balloons
