bought a book for vacation by a highly praised dark smut author and I—maybe I’m broken by years of fucked up fanfic and specific kinks, but I’m disappointed this “international best selling author” novel is very 2.5 stars for me.

I miss writing. But I’m exhausted. My job is draining. Being alive is draining. I’m not ‘big’ enough for my work to matter, but I bleed myself into it—it’s not done quickly or easily. There’s effort. Emotion. It feels in vain when I consistently flop. I’ve never felt so disheartened & unmotivated.

If your discord is raving about fanfic or fanart in private, consider screenshotting (anonymise the usernames) and share that with the artist! We love that shit! And most creators don't have have inherent problems with it being discussed in private, but when we never see it it really does suck.
I think a big fandom shift in interacting with stuff has gone from people commenting under the created thing whether it be fic or art to people linking it in private discord groups where the person who made it will never see any positive comments left on the thing they made.
