Yet again, I remind you that if you work in cybersecurity, you will never not benefit from learning packet analysis. Yes, there are tools for that. But when they fail (and oh buddy do they fail), your ability to perform independent analysis is critical.

I'd initially made a bet that we wouldn't see network edge 0day dropped until next week, but alas, I lost! New Ivanti Connect Secure 0day CVE-2025-0282 exploited in the wild ("limited" exploitation, according to the vendor). Threat campaign analyses likely coming soon. www.rapid7.com/blog/post/20...

In Georgia, a mom facing eviction reached out to DFCS for help. They offered her nothing. Soon the agency took her kids away because of "inadequate housing."

The state then paid *$6,200 a month* to house her kids in foster care.

One of the most important and infuriating stories I read this year:
When Families Need Housing, Georgia Will Pay for Foster Care Rather Than Provide Assistance
In more than 700 cases over five years, Georgia reported inadequate housing as the sole reason for taking a child into foster care, a WABE and ProPublica analysis found. Advocates say it would be chea...

Huge fan of Shrinking and Ted Lasso. Wonderful dialog, great character arcs. I feel like "See" was such an awesome concept. Super excited for season two of Severance. Silo, For All Man Kind, and Foundation are slow burners, but are equally good.

In a post Tuesday, Amazon Wood Services said carpenters report spending an average of "just one hour per day" on actual carpentry.

The rest is eaten up by "tedious, undifferentiated tasks," AWS said. That includes reading blueprints, looking for tools, or measuring twice before even cutting once.

Secondly, usage of ChatGPT in schools means it’s less likely new grads actually understand the material despite the diploma.

Avoiding using AI as a crutch and actually learning the material will be key.

The AI era is going to be tough on new grads over the next few years for two reasons.

The problem with LLMs is they blur facts and fiction, and it takes experience and expertise to catch their errors. So you need fewer junior people doing entry level tasks but more senior proof readers.

with the price per sq ft of commercial real estate plummeting in SF, some enterprising company should snap up a lease of a big space, put up some walls, and offer offices as a perk to workers they want back in the office.

Becoming a manager can be tough as the skills that got you promoted may now hinder you:
• Empowering your team matters more than doing the work yourself.
• Your output shifts to meetings and feedback.
• It’s about your team’s impact: represent their work upward and communicate leadership’s downward.
