Me and @gentlmanjb.bsky.social set out on our journey to thwart Ganon, with the aid of Nick from the Cartridge Command pod, in a SIDEQUEST through Nintendo’s 1987 release of The Legend of Zelda on the NES.

The steps up to Dracula’s lair in the first CV is also one of the more visually-emotional stunners of the NES’ pre-MMC1 era.
Castlevania was the first NES game I ever played - it took me half the night to work my way to the end of the third stage, but I was rewarded with seeing Dracula’s clock tower lair (the last stage of the game) in the far distance.

It was the first time a game felt like an interconnected world.

Who gives a fuck? I’m not prophetic. I was just an ugly, poor filmmaker. I still am. I don’t have power. I don’t have anything… just a fucking camera.

Remarkable how I can delude myself into thinking I can tune into this soft-ass cavs team and have any chance of seeing 48 minutes of actually-respectable play out of them.

This is the game that I thought meant I needed a SEGA Genesis in 1992
Debuting in 1991 for Arcades, Super High Impact would be ported to the Genesis in 1992 with an additional port the following year for the SNES. The SNES release in 1993 would be the final entry in this short lived football series. #Football #Sport #SNES #Short #Gaming

My grandpa took me to the theater to see Dances With Wolves when I was maybe seven. Most confusing 5 hours of my childhood.
My parents loved DANCES WITH WOLVES so much that when it came out on video (Sept 1991 after a Nov 1990 theatrical release) they were willing to spend the $100 the video store said it would cost since our family had no concept of a "rental window" and they'd already waited so long to own it.
PULP FICTION was released on video in September 1995. It hit theaters in
October 1994.

I've been on a quest to read the Uncanny X-Men books, starting from #1, in chronological order for over a year now.

If you added up the collective writing aptitude of all 296 issues prior, they wouldn't even scratch the surface of what Scott Lobdell laid down in #297.

Another cool pod about literatures of gaming antiquity, if you like listening to retroheads talk about that sorta thing.
It’s FunFactor Fuuuuuuuesday!

On this ep. of @funfactorpod.com, we go inside baseball on games journalism and how it’s changed since we started writing, ask unanswerable questions about Dave Halverson, go deep on the Sega Saturn version of Quake, and give shoutouts to @quest64official.bsky.social.
