“On at least two occasions during executive board meetings of the school's parent group, [Mark Levine’s hand-picked board member Sam Lo] described students on individualized education plans as ‘retards.’”

Wishing I could have my primary vote for comptroller back….
The anti-trans resolution that roiled one of Manhattan's public school parent councils for the last year and a half has finally been rescinded.

Does that mean the District 2 council has put messy factional politics behind it?

Nah.

Manhattan's Anti-Trans School Sports Resolution Is Finally Dead
But why did Borough President Mark Levine just hand control of the council back to the people who backed it?

We are just a group of tired parents who want to see positive change for ALL kids in this city, and we are early in our efforts, but we whole heartedly endorse Mamdani for Mayor.

We hope everyone who can vote gets out there in November to send a clear message that we want to go forward.
Awful and dangerous to hear the Mayor echo the transphobic bigotry coming from the Trump administration. It's completely at odds with the values of our city and another reason why his single, disgraced term in office cannot end soon enough.

Yeah this would be a good time to step in and say not on your watch, @governor.ny.gov

And this is Exhibit Eleventy Billion for why mayoral control is antidemocratic and bad, if anyone is keeping track

We aren’t going to let this go. We don’t want Maud 2.0 on the D2 CEC. Withdraw the appointments @marklevinenyc.bsky.social

This is a rich statement coming from someone who we believe is about to appoint MAGA-lite individuals to the D2 CEC as a political favor. Revolting from someone who pretended to care.
Let’s be clear: Trump intervening in the NYC mayor’s race will be political poison to any candidate who benefits.

NYC parents - two more days to vote! PLACE is desperately trying to distance themselves from Moms for Liberty but unfortunately there’s a clear public record. They attend M4L events and refused to support a resolution disavowing M4L. Let’s vote the creeps out. We’ve got great parents who care!

NYC public school parents and guardians: you have until MAY 13 to vote in CEC elections at www.schoolsaccount.nyc

Last year, only 2% of public school parents voted. Let’s change that!

The majority of those on the D2 CEC have demonstrated that in addition to everything else, they don’t care about the rules or showing up to vote. Why does the CEC D2 president continue to bend over backwards to accommodate? Everyone should be offended by this behavior.

Right now the District 2 CEC board has a majority of MAGA moms of liberty monsters on it. We’ve seen them roll their eyes at parents in tears who are asking them to be less cruel among many other things. It’s time for them to go.
