A couple thoughts on Matt Gaetz, who I’ve known since high school and college debate.

1. He was a poor debater. (I was an All-American, making name at least a fair critic). He was nowhere near nationally competitive in an activity filled with America’s best, brightest young minds.
I wrote about how there is plenty of blame to go around in the Charles Bediako litigation.

The thing that’s missing is leadership— and it is what college basketball desperately needs.

More than anything else, the Charles Bediako case demonstrates college basketball's leadership vacuum
Charles Bediako, James Nnaji and many European players who have flooded into the NCAA ranks threaten the sport as we know it.

Interesting. Do you guys think I should become a soccer fan
Dude, just become a soccer fan and your problem is solved
MY TAKE: There's nothing better than live sports on TV when you wake up. The toxic American mania for starting games at 9pm must be vanquished. NFL games should kick off at 6 in the morning. NBA games can start at 7:30 because you actually have to pay attention

Truly remarkable.
Fox News is incredible. You have all these New York City elites and frat boys who grew up on Long Island pretending to be middle Americans and the con has worked so well for all these years.

The people on that channel have nothing in common with the actual Trump voter. FULL STOP.

Why is the msm outside of Maine not covering this? It seems like a huge and very troubling story to me. ICE coming to observers houses or calling them on the phone warning them to back off??!! www.pressherald.com/2026/01/23/i...

Since July, I've tracked at least 2,300 cases in which federal judges have ruled ICE has illegally detained people without bond or due process.

This is one that stands out:

Top 5 player at Florida ever
Haugh is going to go down as one of the best players in Florida history. I’ve been watching the program since the late 1980s and I would put him in the same category as the Vernon Maxwell’s, Mike Miller’s, Chandler Parsons’, Stacey Poole’s etc.

No, autistics do not “lack empathy”: “Where researchers had assumed impairment, they found autistic people applying moral principles more consistently—even to strangers, even when costly.” By Ludmila Pradlova.

What the World Got Wrong About Autistic People
For decades, autism research compared autistic people to animals, denied them moral sensitivity, and assumed autistic traits made them miserable. All wrong.

On the contrary, it is that despite intense strain on Mary and Joseph’s relationship, a long and arduous journey to Bethlehem…

The GOP blocking health care funding for poor, sick folks and children while loudly celebrating a poor child born in a stable who grew up to speak truth to power and heal and minister to the sick is a little too on the nose.

The health of a relationship is directly proportional to how much instagram content you send each other and how quickly it’s viewed.

This isn’t an opinion. It is science.

Missing my friend Grant Wahl today.

He would have hated the draw ceremony but been so fired up to host the World Cup.

I write about college basketball. But:

My favorite 🏀 team - the one that makes me ache and cry -is the Hornets.

It’s not generational trauma so much as ineffable sadness.

I think this @christhompson.bsky.social is the best explainer of the team I’ve read.

Can Anything Make The Hornets Make Sense? | Defector
The Charlotte Hornets are once again miserable crud. At 4–13, they are down there sloshing in the fermented trash juice of the Eastern Conference. The Hornets are perhaps a somewhat more buoyant grade...
