I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

He’s right. These are the same people who respond to stuff from the Style section with “Oh so this is the most important thing happening now??” It’s a kind of illiteracy. imo
"fuck the nyt reporter"? Why? This piece has biting criticisms of its subject, with details ("like a ragged prayer") that expose it as hollow and ridiculous. Do you only want journalists to tell you about virtuous things of which you approve? (Obviously this is close to home.)

What I’ve discovered is that a lot of parents are uncomfortable with the very concept of education, and many things are downstream of this
