I think when I start talking I don’t know what the boundaries should be, and I feel like the internet these days wants to consume people and eat them alive. Whatever you give it wants more, so it can eat you

its cool that ads for "AI" all have the targeted user as a slackjawed idiot who uses the product as a middleman to teach them basic chores

I met R2D2 on the street and he was not gracious at all. C3PO had to apologize for him like, he hasn’t had his crystals today. The crystals that he eats. He has to eat these it’s like cereal to him. He offered to take a pic w/me but I was like lol you are like the Ringo of this. You are below Wicket

Or the philosopher that aligns themself with whichever state they were born in, I’m sorry, so stupid. ‘From first principles and the iron laws of history I have discovered a purportedly historically contingent social arrangement is in fact necessary and could not have been otherwise.’ No you haven’t

Twitter implemented a new feature last night that displayed the country an account is in. So many of the ‘America First’ accounts were from foreign countries that they had to disable the feature within hours. 🙄

Was just musing about an Odysseus movie and thinking that the perfect casting would be Robert Redford - chosen by the gods, but very very skeptical of divinity and his place in it.

And then I remembered All Is Lost...Redford's Odysseus movie.

In what little is left of his authentic self, Trump is two things: A New Yorker, and an interior decorator. The only head of state he considers impressive is the Mayor of New York City, and the only thing he really feels pride in, is his interior decorating choices. Mamdani hit him in the heart.
"We have a great portrait of FDR that I found in the vaults that was missing for years. I found it and I put it up. He's a Democrat, to the best of my knowledge...

And when the mayor saw that portrait, he said, Sir, do you mind if I have a picture taken by that portrait?' It's an amazing portrait."

A new piece up at ¡AU! about a company doing great work intercepting workplace harassment in the media industry.
We sat down with Lisa Bell from HR consultancy Tell Jane to learn about tackling - and preventing - harassment in the workplace. The media business has its own special challenges when it comes to abuse, including a vulnerable freelance population.

It probably would be prudent to assume that there is going to be a Mad King "burn them all" moment and to have a plan in place.
A member of Congress just filled out a threat report with the Capitol Police naming the President of the United States as the person making the threat.

Think of where we were on January 7, 2021 when the country overwhelmingly repudiated what had happened.

And think of where we are now.

@klonick.bsky.social neatly summarizing a problem that affects anyone who creates or consumes content that appears on the Internet, which is a number of people.
So this ad revenue metric is indicative of such a fascinating and weird set of business decisions by Google to inexplicably kill of SEO-- and I honestly don't get how they think this is going to pay off for them in the long run.
