Another thing that is upsetting me today is the phrase "picky bits".

Sometimes life imitates art, sometimes lemons imitate an anal fistula. It's all good.

Writing about the 'parent penalty', i.e. parents are typically more stressed/unhappy than non-parents

One rare country where this doesn't occur is Portugal

I'm *not* saying it's significant that parents are much happier in a country that decriminalised drugs

But I *am* thinking it pretty hard...

The company that own and rent out the house next door have lost their (lovely) tenants. Their rude workmen have been coming for weeks, and every day they park across my driveway.
I'm considering locking my massive angry dog in the back of their unlocked van.
How do you like them apples

Do NOT insert a movie, ever.
You'd be amazed at how quickly things zip up there.
I know because I worked in A&E for 8 years, and yes I've seen the pictures

It’s also how you feel when you’re a senior, and you attend more funerals than weddings. And seeing how people think seniors lives don’t matter.

We have a winner!
It is, indeed, a 🍋 lemon!
And this is why I buy my fruit, and some vegetables, down the Cowley Rd and not in the "proper" shops
Then the only thing I have left is a highly mutant lemon 🙂

I lost a dear friend and colleague this year, Sue.
She was a wonderful human, a real force of nature. She was my “work mum” & she used to pick leaves out of my hair and look after me 🥲

I am helping to raise money for The Christie Charity, who looked after Sue💘

I totally agree with this. In addition life can throw you the harshest of curve balls. I should know- as the song says
"I have not, always been, as you see me now"
All this and more. If you own a house, are fit enough and have the room to grow/store some food, and have the tools and the space to do your own domestic maintenance, you can get by on amazingly little.
If none of these are true, then it can be tough to get by on what some might see as good money.

The US is very different to the UK, as is pointed out in the replies - we have the NHS for start. The journalist gives just over £100,00 as the UK equivalent. I wonder how much people think you need to earn to not be "poor"?

In a shocking development, I have just realised that i am not that sure that I like Mary Berry all that much. Sorry.

I try not to mention God too much, which in itself makes me a terrible Christian, but here we are.
I will make an exception today because its the first Sunday of Advent, and I want to wish you all a blessed Advent 💕
I know most of you are atheists, but I'm a cradle Catholic, can't help it xx
