Can someone please edit Springsteen's Badlands over the ending of Predator: Badlands?
November 10, 2025 at 9:08 PM
Dan Trachtenberg has resoundingly answered the important question of our time: "What if we made good Predator movies again?"
If you watched #Prey at home, good news: #PredatorBadlands is in theaters now and kicks ass.

If you didn’t watch #Prey at home, even better news: you have TWO kickass movies to watch! (Plus an only slightly less kickass animated film to go with them).

There's a direct link between this and @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social 's recent essay on shame.
ME ON A TRAIN: Oh no, I accidentally clicked a video with sound! Oh god, people heard a second of loud sound from my phone. I have torn the social contract.

EVERYBODY ELSE ON TRAIN: Shit yeah, train time, time to watch the loudest TikToks

Breaking my "don't post, only lurk" rule to share that Alien: Earth rocks. Also great use of Olyphant.

I appreciate the sentiment but why does it look like the kangaroo and goose are having an affair?

So incredibly grim: "Of all the people I interviewed for this story — including CTA officials, politicians, and transit experts and advocates — roughly half admitted they no longer ride the L." -- www.chicagomag.com/chicago-maga...
The L in Crisis
With ridership lagging and a fiscal reckoning looming, the L is in trouble. Here’s why our train is worth saving.

The most Chicago thing happened to me last week - I was driving west on Irving Park from Lake Shore Drive and looked in my rearview mirror to see Jeff Tweedy driving a Subaru right behind me.

Sonic 3 was loud. But, it was also a great reminder that there was a reason Jim Carrey was the biggest comedian in the world for a little bit.

Having played and beaten pretty much all the modern From Software games, I can say with assurance, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is harder than all of them.

I got Balatro and, yes, I understand why this is so many people's game of the year, not that I have any idea what I'm doing in it.

Pretty sure they can't do deals on Bloomburrow packs because I purchased all of them.

Finished both seasons of Detroiters. I think I ultimately like it more than ITYSL - has more heart and Sam is a great foil to Tim.

I've been thinking the last little while about shame. I think we have (rightfully) tried to combat feelings of shame about identity, but I also wonder if we've started to lose an important aspect of the social fabric: shame of your actions in public.

It is possible to (1) deplore how Columbia University's administration is reacting to the on-campus protests and (2) also think it is very bad that a bunch of ghoulish, antisemitic opportunists have taken it upon themselves to hang out just off-campus, harassing Jewish students and celebrating 10/7.

At first I was skeptical of having Ethan Hawke show up in Reservation Dogs, but he was perfectly cast. The episode felt like a Linklater film with its naturalism, awkwardness, humaness. I'm going to miss this show.
